What happens if my flight arrives early?

Call or send us a text if you want us to pick you up early, and we will let your driver know that you are ready to be picked up. Otherwise, we will pick you up at the scheduled time on your reservation.

How soon should I make a reservation?

How long does it take to go from Phoenix or Goodyear?

Trips to and from Goodyear in normal traffic are about 30 minutes versus about an hour on the bus or a shuttle with a bunch of people. Rush hour will normally add 15-45 minutes (30 minutes on the average).

What time should I be picked up?

2 hours before is normally enough time. PHX recommends you to be there 2 hours early to get through security and to your plane. Boarding usually starts 30 minutes before your plane takes off. However, one hour and thirty minutes is normally enough time. So if the drive from Goodyear to Phoenix takes about 30 minutes, then 2 to 2.5 hours before your flight takes off is normally good.

Whether you’re heading to a business meeting, a weekend getaway, or catching a flight from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, understanding the best ways to travel between Phoenix and Goodyear, Arizona, can save you time and hassle. This guide consolidates verified details from mapping services, local transit information, and points of interest to give you a clear, answer‑first picture of the Phoenix‑to‑Goodyear corridor.

Driving Distance and Time

According to MapQuest, the most direct route from downtown Phoenix (ZIP 85003) to Goodyear (ZIP 85338) covers approximately 19 miles and takes about 22 minutes when traveling via Interstate 10 (I‑10) westbound [MapQuest]. Distance‑cities.com notes that the geographic midpoint between the two cities lies roughly 9.49 miles from each location, which would be reached in about 12 minutes of driving from either end [distance‑cities.com]. The closest community to that midpoint is Tolleson, AZ, situated about 12 miles from Phoenix and 7 miles from Goodyear, with travel times of approximately 16 minutes from Phoenix and 11 minutes from Goodyear [distance‑cities.com]. These figures are averages; actual travel time can vary with traffic, especially during rush hour on I‑10.

Route Options

While I‑10 is the most common freeway for this trip, alternative routes exist depending on your starting point in Phoenix and any specific destinations in Goodyear. Below is a comparison of the primary options based on publicly available routing data.

Route Major Roads Approx. Distance Estimated Time (no traffic) Notes
I‑10 West I‑10 (Papago Freeway) ~19 mi ~22 min Direct, no tolls; passes Sky Harbor Airport area and the Phoenix‑Goodyear corridor.
US‑60 West (Grand Avenue) US‑60 (Grand Ave) → AZ‑101 Loop → AZ‑303 ~21 mi ~25‑30 min Scenic, passes through Glendale and Sun City; useful if avoiding I‑10 congestion.
AZ‑101 Loop (Agua Fria Freeway) AZ‑101 Loop → I‑10 West ~20 mi ~23‑28 min Good for travelers coming from north or east Phoenix; merges onto I‑10 near Laveen.

All routes are toll‑free. Travel times assume normal conditions; construction or incidents on I‑10 can add significant delay, making the US‑60/AZ‑101 combination a viable alternative during peak periods.

Public Transportation and Shuttle Services

For those who prefer not to drive, several options connect Phoenix and Goodyear.

  • Valley Metro Bus: The regional transit agency operates routes that link major Phoenix hubs (such as downtown, Sky Harbor Terminal, and the Phoenix‑Goodyear corridor) with Goodyear’s commercial centers. While specific route numbers vary, Valley Metro’s website provides real‑time schedules and trip planning tools.
  • Airport Shuttle of Phoenix: The company offering this page provides shared‑ride and private‑van shuttles between Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and destinations throughout Goodyear, including hotels, business parks, and residential areas. • Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX): Located just east of the I‑10 corridor, the airport is a major gateway for travelers. If you have time, the airport’s PHX Sky Train connects terminals to the Valley Metro Rail station at 44th Street.

  • Westgate Entertainment District: Also in Glendale, Westgate offers dining, shopping, and the Gila River Arena, home of the Arizona Coyotes (NHL) and Arizona Rattlers (indoor football).
  • Goodyear Ballpark: Home to the Cleveland Indians spring training and the Goodyear Yankees (minor league), this stadium hosts games, community events, and concerts throughout the year.
  • Estrella Mountain Regional Park: A short drive south of Goodyear (accessible via ESTRELLA Parkway), the park offers hiking trails, picnic areas, and panoramic views of the Sierra Estrella range.

These attractions are all reachable via short exits from I‑10 or connecting surface streets, making them convenient for travelers looking to stretch their legs or explore the West Valley.

Our Better Vehicles

What type of vehicle will pick me up?

We send an airport shuttle or SUV (4+ passengers) or a nice car (1-3 passengers) anytime and take you to or from any address in Arizona, not just PHX. Our vehicles are clean and newer. Most vehicles are luxury and full size. We have Mercedes Sprinters, Chrysler 300's, Lexus ES300 Hybrids, Lincoln MKZ's, and a variety of other vehicles to meet your needs.

Our Pickup Locations

Your Goodyear Shuttle picks up where it says Prearranged. If you are in a wheelchair, do not allow your attendant to leave you anywhere except Prearranged. The signs are easy to see and they are always at the outer curb. Sometimes security will send people to the wrong place, so it's better to follow the directions below. PHX also won't allow drivers to walk more than 15 feet away from their vehicle or wait, so good communication is essential. Turn on your cell phone and take it off of airplane mode, so your driver can call or text you. If you don't recognize the number, it's probably your driver.

Terminal 3 Prearranged is across the crosswalk from Door 6 and to the right, south side of the building.

Terminal 4 Prearranged is across the crosswalk from Door 3, north side of the building, first floor. The sign says "Prearranged Vehicles 3 NORTH".

To and From Any Address (One Way)

What kind of transportation services do you offer?

Does it make sense to take an Uber or Lyft?

Uber and Lyft drivers often cancel once they arrive at your house, because the app doesn't tell them where they are going until they arrive at your home. Usually they don't want to drive that far and not get paid to drive back, or they are unavailable to work for that long. This may result in you missing your flight after 2-3 of them cancel in a row, and they charge you $5 each time for the cancellation. You then try to contact Uber or Lyft over the next week to get a refund, and they don't even have a phone number.

Another thing to consider is that Uber and Lyft drivers are never interviewed, so you may get a depressed guy complaining about his life, a tiny car with no leg room or a creeper. Uber and Lyft also do not train their drivers and Sky Harbor is moderately confusing to most people, so they usually have no idea where to go.

How reliable is the Greyhound bus or an Arizona shuttle with a lot of people?

Companies that do shared rides will try to pick you up an hour or two earlier, but they make no promises about when you will actually get to PHX. If you're on a tight schedule, the shared ride option with Arizona shuttle or the Greyhound is probably not a good idea. Extra stops and scheduling with other passengers can either make you too early or potentially late. Even with great drivers, passengers can be unpredictable and end up making everyone miss their flight.
