How long does it take from Phoenix?
Trips to and from Wickenburg in normal traffic are about an hour and 20 minutes versus about three hours on the bus or a shuttle with a bunch of people. Rush hour will normally add 15-45 mins (30 mins on the average).
What time should I be picked up?
3 hours before is normally enough time. PHX recommends you to be there 2 hours early to get through security and to your plane. Boarding usually starts 30 minutes before your plane takes off. Our Better Drivers
Who are your drivers?
Most of our shuttle drivers have been driving professionally with the public for more than 10 years. They have excellent people skills and are usually very knowledgeable about the area (what to do, best restaurants, history and attractions). Some of our drivers are also professional tour guides that go to the Grand Canyon and many other destinations.
We have high standards for our shuttle drivers including safety, reliability and customer service. They are very helpful with bags. They get the door for you. All drivers go through extensive background checks with Sky Harbor in order to pick up passengers.
We also train them by driving them through PHX, explaining all the rules, and showing them where to pick people up and drop people off.

The straight‑line (as‑the‑crow‑flies) distance between downtown Phoenix and the historic town of Wickenburg is roughly **55 miles (88 km)**. When you factor in the most common driving route, the road distance is about the same – the highway network that links the two cities follows a nearly straight line through the desert. The distance and travel time are consistent with the figures reported by distance‑cities.com and rome2rio.com.
Driving the Route: Highways, Scenery, and Key Landmarks
Most travelers choose to drive because the drive is direct and offers a chance to experience Arizona’s high‑desert landscape. The primary highway is U.S. Route 60 (US‑60), locally known as Grand Avenue, which runs west from Phoenix through Glendale and Peoria before heading north‑west toward Wickenburg. After leaving the Phoenix urban core, the road opens up to wide‑open desert, dotted with saguaro cacti and occasional rock formations.
Key Segments
- Phoenix to Glendale: Exit the I‑10 onto US‑60 West. You’ll pass the Phoenix Deer Valley Airport (DVT) on your right. This segment is about 12 miles and usually takes 15–20 minutes.
- Glendale to Sun City West: Continuing on US‑60, you’ll skirt the edge of Sun City West, a large retirement community. The road is four lanes with a speed limit of 55 mph. This stretch adds another 12 miles, roughly 15 minutes.
- Sun City West to Wickenburg: The highway narrows to two lanes as you enter more rural terrain. You’ll pass the White Tank Mountain Regional Park (miles 44‑48), a great spot for a quick hike or photo stop. The final 20 miles wind through desert plains before you reach Wickenburg’s historic downtown.
If you prefer a more scenic route, you can also take Arizona State Route 89 (AZ‑89) north from the US‑60 junction near Congress. gasoline price of $4.35 per gallon and a typical vehicle getting 25 mpg).
