San Carlos Sengaah Airport Shuttle
Welcome to Airport Shuttle of Phoenix. We provide reliable door-to-door transportation between the San Carlos Apache Reservation (San Carlos Sengaah) and the two major airports serving the Phoenix metro: Phoenix Sky Harbor International (PHX) and Phoenix-Mesa Gateway (AZA). The trip is roughly 104 miles to PHX (about 2 hours 20 minutes driving) and roughly 90 miles to Mesa Gateway (about 2 hours 5 minutes), with the actual run depending on your exact pickup, traffic on US-60 through the East Valley, and weather over the high desert.
Heading to or from elsewhere in the Globe / San Carlos Apache Reservation corridor on US-70? See our paired Globe-area routes: Globe shuttle hub, Phoenix to Globe airport shuttle, and Globe to Phoenix airport shuttle — same PHX Sky Harbor / Mesa Gateway drop, routed US-60 E → US-70 through Globe and Peridot. Travelers from the wider east-Arizona tribal region can also use our Apache County shuttle for pickups further east.
The San Carlos Apache Reservation lies in eastern Arizona’s Gila and Graham counties, east of the Phoenix metro. Pickups along this route are typically in or near Peridot, San Carlos, Bylas, Cutter, and along the US-70 corridor toward Globe. From Globe the route follows US-60 west through the Superior tunnel, descends into the East Valley near Apache Junction, and continues on US-60 / Loop 202 to Mesa Gateway, or onto I-10 and SR-143 to Phoenix Sky Harbor.
What to Plan For on This Route
- Allow at least 3 hours of buffer before your scheduled flight departure (so: leave the reservation ~3.5–4 hours before takeoff for PHX, ~3 hours for AZA). The US-60 corridor through the Pinal Mountains and the Superior–Globe stretch is two-lane in places, and a single accident or downhill truck can add 30+ minutes with no detour.
- Weather: winter storms occasionally close the Pinal Pass and US-60 between Superior and Globe. Summer monsoon can flood low spots. Your driver tracks NWS and ADOT alerts and will reroute via US-70 / SR-77 / SR-79 through Florence if needed.
- Tribal road access: our drivers carry the documentation needed to operate on the reservation. If your pickup is at a private home off the main highway, please include cross-street or landmark notes when you book — rural addresses on the reservation are not always GPS-precise.
- Cell coverage drops in spots between Globe and Superior. Your driver may call or text from a US-60 milepost shortly before pickup so you have the contact number cached if signal drops at the meeting point.
Local Pickup & Drop-off Points We Serve
We commonly run this route to/from:
- Private homes and offices throughout the reservation (Peridot, San Carlos, Bylas, Cutter, Seven Mile Wash, Soda Canyon)
- Apache Gold Casino & Resort (Cutter, on US-70) — common pickup for both guests and reservation staff
- Globe and Miami, AZ — for travelers who prefer to drive themselves to a meeting point rather than wait at home
- Tribal government and healthcare facilities by prearrangement
What Do I Need to Know About My Pickup?
Pickups are arranged based on your specific address or meeting point on or near the reservation. We strongly recommend including cross streets, a landmark, or a what-three-words tag with your booking if your address sits off the main highway grid. Have your flight number ready — we use it to time the pickup against real-time flight status, not just the published departure.
How Many Bags Can I Bring?
You can bring as many bags as fit safely in the vehicle. Standard service covers 2 checked bags + 1 carry-on per passenger at no extra charge. If you are traveling with extra cargo (hunting gear, instruments, oversize boxes, a wheelchair), tell us when you book so we dispatch a Sprinter or SUV rather than a sedan.
What Happens if My Flight is Delayed?
We track inbound flights by flight number and adjust pickup at the airport automatically — you don’t need to call. For outbound trips, if your departure is rescheduled, message or call us as soon as you know; on this route there is no penalty for a same-day time shift as long as we have at least a couple of hours’ notice to redirect the driver.

How far is San Carlos Sengaah from Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX)?
It's roughly 110 to 130 road miles depending on your specific pickup address inside the San Carlos Apache Reservation (Peridot, San Carlos, Bylas, Cutter, or Soda Canyon). Most one-way trips run about 2 hours 15 minutes to 2 hours 50 minutes door-to-door via US-70 west, US-60 west through Globe and Superior, then I-60/US-60 into the East Valley and onto SR-202 or I-10 to PHX.
How far is it from San Carlos Sengaah to Mesa Gateway Airport (AZA)?
Mesa Gateway (IWA / AZA) is closer than PHX from most San Carlos pickups — about 95 to 115 road miles. Plan on roughly 1 hour 50 minutes to 2 hours 20 minutes via US-70 west to US-60 west, then SR-79 south or Hunt Highway into Queen Creek / Mesa. We service Allegiant, Sun Country and other AZA carriers.
How early should I leave San Carlos for a flight out of PHX?
For domestic flights, we recommend pickup at least 4 hours before departure. For international, 5 hours. That covers the 2–3 hour drive plus TSA / check-in time and a buffer for US-60 monsoon flooding (July–September), Globe / Miami slow zones, or holiday traffic in the East Valley. For early-morning flights we routinely do 2:00–3:00 AM pickups from San Carlos.
What route do you take from the San Carlos Apache Reservation to the airport?
The standard route is US-70 west out of San Carlos / Peridot, through Globe and Miami on US-60 west, over the Superior summit and through the Queen Creek Tunnel, then into Apache Junction. From there we use SR-202 Loop to PHX or SR-202 / Ellsworth Road to Mesa Gateway. In monsoon season or after a wash flood we may detour via Show Low / SR-77, but that adds about 45 minutes.
Do you pick up from anywhere on the San Carlos Apache Reservation?
Yes — we pick up door-to-door from anywhere on the reservation including Peridot, San Carlos, Bylas, Cutter, Soda Canyon, Calva, and the Apache Gold Casino area. Please give the full street or landmark when booking (many reservation addresses don't show up on GPS). Our driver will call or text 30–60 minutes before pickup.
Can I bring elders or family members who need extra help?
Yes. Our vehicles are full-size SUVs and Sprinter vans with low step-in heights, and drivers help with luggage and boarding. If a traveler uses a walker, folding wheelchair, or needs help with steps, mention it when booking so we send the right vehicle. We do not currently operate fixed wheelchair lifts — for power-chair passengers please call (602) 626-9388 first so we can route accordingly.
Do you accept cash, or is it card only?
Online bookings require a credit or debit card to confirm. If you'd rather pay cash on pickup, call dispatch at (602) 626-9388 and we can arrange a cash-on-arrival reservation. We do not surcharge for cards.
Is there a flat rate from San Carlos Sengaah, or is it metered?
We quote a flat door-to-door rate at the time of booking based on your exact pickup address and the airport you're going to. The fare doesn't change with traffic or flight delays. Round-trip bookings save 10% on each leg automatically; one-way bookings can use promo code ONLINE for 10% off.
