What are the benefits of using our service?
Door to door shuttle service is included on all our trips. Usually trips are non-stop in a nicer vehicle. We pick you up at your home anytime 24/7. We normally take you straight home, which is very different from other Phoenix Shuttle companies that leave you at a bus stop and stop and wait at intermediate points for hours. We also don't pack you in with 8-54 people you don't know and stop everywhere. Southeast of Tucson, the Phoenix to Douglas shuttle route continues to the Agua Prieta crossing.
Does it cost anything to change my reservation?
You can always change the date and time of your shuttle reservation at no cost. If you don't know the exact address, you can enter the city for now to reserve it, and give us the full address later. If you don't know your flight number, you can estimate the time and update the flight number and time later via phone, email or text. Northeast of the Valley, our Payson shuttle service serves the Rim Country communities.
Your Flagstaff Shuttle picks up where it says Prearranged. If you are in a wheelchair, do not allow your attendant to leave you anywhere except Prearranged. The signs are easy to see and they are always at the outer curb. Sometimes security will send people to the wrong place, so it's better to follow the directions below. Sky Harbor also won't allow drivers to walk more than 15 feet away from their vehicle or wait, so good communication is essential. Turn on your cell phone and take it off of airplane mode, so your driver can call or text you. If you don't recognize the number, it's probably your driver.
Terminal 3 Prearranged is across the crosswalk from Door 6 and to the right, south side of the building.
Terminal 4 Prearranged is across the crosswalk from Door 3, north side of the building, first floor. The sign says "Prearranged Vehicles 3 NORTH".
What kind of transportation services do you offer?
We offer a Flagstaff to Phoenix Shuttle from Flagstaff Amtrak Station to PHX, and a Phoenix to Flagstaff Shuttle from PHX or Metro Center, and other types of transportation like black car and taxi. We customize our airport shuttle service to your needs by offering different options like Phoenix shuttles, black car services, and taxi. We offer many types of vehicles, and different options to make your experience great.
Does it make sense to take an Uber or Lyft?
Uber and Lyft drivers often cancel once they arrive at your house, hotel or NAU in Phoenix and Flagstaff, because the app doesn't tell them where they are going until they arrive at your home. Usually they don't want to drive that far and not get paid for two hours to drive back, or they are unavailable to work for that long. This may result in you missing your flight after 2-3 of them cancel in a row, and they charge you $5 each time for the cancellation. You then try to contact Uber or Lyft over the next week to get a refund, and they don't even have a phone number. The westernmost border option is our Phoenix to Mexicali shuttle route. From those border towns, the Douglas to Tucson shuttle continues east to the I-10 corridor.
Another thing to consider is that Uber and Lyft drivers are never interviewed, so you may get a depressed guy complaining about his life, a tiny car with no leg room or a creeper. Uber and Lyft also do not train their drivers and Sky Harbor is moderately confusing to most people, so they usually have no idea where to go.
How reliable is the Greyhound bus or an Arizona shuttle with a lot of people?
Other Phoenix shuttle companies that do shared rides in Phoenix or Flagstaff will try to pick you up an hour or two earlier, but they make no promises about when you will actually get to PHX. If you're on a tight schedule, the shared ride option with Arizona shuttle or the Greyhound is probably not a good idea. Extra stops and scheduling with other passengers can either make you too early or potentially late. Even with great drivers, passengers can be unpredictable and end up making everyone miss their flight.
Flagstaff to Phoenix flights are much more expensive than taking a shuttle, ranging from $236 per person before tax to $350 each. The flight itself takes about 45 minutes, but that leaves out the drive to the Flagstaff airport, check-in and security time, and the baggage claim on the Phoenix end - the door-to-door day usually runs far longer than the 45 minutes the airlines advertise.
We are the fastest and more convenient option from Flagstaff to Phoenix AZ. The main difference is we pick you up at your home, and it only takes about 2 hours and 15 minutes. We are a 24/7 door to door service, and it's normally just you in the vehicle going non-stop to PHX or back home.
The greyhound flagstaff to phoenix normally takes about 4 and a half hours. We under some people may need to take the bus for financial reason, but honestly riding the Greyhound takes forever.
There is no Phoenix to Flagstaff train. There are no trains anywhere in Phoenix AZ. However, the Amtrak does stop in Flagstaff. It only goes east and west, not north and south.
We do car service Flagstaff to Phoenix. You can either choose a nicer car that we use for the shuttle service or a black car if you want an executive car service.
Phoenix to Flagstaff driving time is 2 hours and 15 minutes with us or by car. Drive time is about twice as long on the bus or other shared ride shuttle companies, because they stop many times and wait for people.
Some people have called us the Flagstaff express since we are the fastest option to get to Sky Harbor.

Traveling from Flagstaff to Phoenix covers roughly 145 miles of high-desert and Sonoran landscape, almost all of it along Interstate 17. For most travelers, a door-to-door shuttle is the most practical way to make the trip — no white-knuckle mountain driving, no parking fees at Sky Harbor, and no scrambling for a rideshare at 5 a.m. before a morning flight. This guide breaks down how the shuttle service works, what the route looks like mile by mile, how it compares to driving yourself, and the answers to the questions Flagstaff travelers ask most.
The Flagstaff-to-Phoenix corridor is one of the busiest intercity routes in northern Arizona. Flagstaff sits at approximately 7,000 feet of elevation on the Colorado Plateau, while Phoenix rests at roughly 1,100 feet in the Valley of the Sun. That 6,000-foot descent — and the climb back up — is exactly why so many people prefer to leave the driving to someone else.
Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) is the major air hub for all of northern Arizona. Many Flagstaff residents and Flagstaff visitors fly out of Sky Harbor because flight options and fares there are far broader than at Flagstaff Pulliam Airport (FLG), which handles a smaller schedule of regional flights. A shuttle solves the core problem of that trip: someone else handles the nearly 2.5-hour drive while you rest, work, or sleep.
Understanding the route helps you plan your pickup time and know what to expect along the way. Nearly the entire journey happens on Interstate 17, with connecting legs on local highways depending on your pickup and drop-off points.
Shuttles typically pick up at homes, hotels along Route 66 and in downtown Flagstaff, Northern Arizona University, or Flagstaff Pulliam Airport. From town, drivers usually connect to I-17 via the Milton Road or Butler Avenue interchanges and head south past Walnut Canyon's rim country, with the San Francisco Peaks — home to Mount Humphreys, the highest point in Arizona at over 12,000 feet — fading into the rearview mirror.
South of Flagstaff, I-17 drops off the Mogollon Rim through some of the most scenic terrain in the state. Key landmarks and junctions along this stretch include:
South of Camp Verde, the highway climbs briefly over Dugas Pass before beginning the long descent toward the desert. Watch for the Sunset Point Rest Area at the top of the grade — one of the few places with facilities between Camp Verde and Phoenix. From there the road threads through the Black Hills, past the turnoffs for Crown King and the Agua Fria National Monument, through Black Canyon City, and down along the Agua Fria River into the north Valley. Traffic thickens considerably as you pass Anthem and the Loop 303 and Loop 101 interchanges before the final approach to Sky Harbor via the I-17/SR 51 freeway system and the Papago Freeway.
In good conditions, the drive takes about two and a half hours from Flagstaff to Sky Harbor without stops. Shuttles that include Sedona pickups, rest stops, or multiple drop-offs will take longer. During snowstorms, monsoon dust storms, or holiday weekends, build substantial buffer time — ask your shuttle provider what departure time they recommend for your flight.
Here's an honest comparison of the main ways to get from Flagstaff to Phoenix. Note that all dollar figures are ballpark estimates only — actual costs vary by season, booking timing, and provider, so always confirm current pricing directly.
| Option | Typical Time (Est.) | Relative Cost (Estimate Only) | Best For | Trade-offs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Shared shuttle | 2.5–4 hrs depending on stops | Moderate per-person fare; often the best value for solo travelers | Single travelers, airport transfers, winter travel | Fixed departure times; shared ride means stops for other passengers |
| Private shuttle / charter | ~2.5–3 hrs, door to door | Highest upfront cost, but cost-effective split among a group | Families, groups, tight flight schedules | More expensive unless you have several people to split it |
| Driving yourself (rental or personal car) | ~2.5 hrs plus stops | Gas plus rental fees, Sky Harbor parking, and wear on your vehicle | Travelers who want flexibility or a car in Phoenix | |
| Rideshare (Uber/Lyft) | ~2.5 hrs | Typically the most expensive option for this distance; surge pricing applies | Urgent, last-minute trips | Limited driver availability in Flagstaff at early hours; very high fares for long trips |
| Intercity bus service | Varies by schedule and connections | Usually budget-friendly | Flexible schedules, budget travelers without a deadline | Station-to-station, not door to door; limited daily departures; may not align with flight times |
The bottom line: if your trip starts or ends at Sky Harbor and you're not driving a car you need in Phoenix, a shuttle usually wins on convenience, safety, and total cost of the door-to-door journey.
The single largest group is people flying in or out of Sky Harbor. If you have a morning flight, remember that you'll want to arrive at the airport about two hours before a domestic departure — which, added to the drive time, often means a pre-dawn pickup in Flagstaff. Reputable shuttle companies will recommend a pickup time based on your flight's departure, so provide your flight number when you book.
Northern Arizona University's campus sits in the heart of Flagstaff, and shuttle runs get especially busy during move-in, move-out, and school break periods around Thanksgiving, winter break, spring break, and summer. Book well ahead for those windows.
Visitors who fly into Phoenix and head up to Sedona, Flagstaff, or the Grand Canyon often reverse the trip by shuttle at the end of their vacation. It's a relaxed way to wrap up an Arizona itinerary — someone else navigates the climb back up the rim while you watch the saguaros give way to ponderosa pines.
Demand spikes during Northern Arizona's busiest stretches: summer Grand Canyon season, fall foliage weekends in Oak Creek Canyon, ski season at the Arizona Snowbowl, and every university break. Holiday weeks around Christmas and Thanksgiving fill fastest. If your travel dates fall in those windows, reserve as far in advance as you can.
As a rule of thumb, plan to reach Sky Harbor at least two hours before a domestic flight. Work backward from there: add the drive time (call it two and a half hours minimum, more with stops) plus a weather buffer in winter. If you're unsure, tell the shuttle company your flight time and ask them to schedule the pickup — they run this route every day and know how long it really takes.
Most services offer both door-to-door pickup from Flagstaff addresses and fixed meeting points such as hotels. If you're staying in Sedona or the Verde Valley instead, ask whether the route can collect you along the way — many shuttles run the corridor with intermediate stops.
I-17 between Flagstaff and Camp Verde can see snow and ice from late fall through early spring, and the highway occasionally closes during major storms. Build flexibility into your plans, consider a shuttle a day earlier than strictly necessary when a storm is forecast, and follow Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) alerts for real-time road conditions.
Shuttle vans and minibuses have limited luggage space compared to your own trunk. Confirm your provider's luggage policy — especially if you're traveling with ski equipment, golf clubs, or oversized bags — and mention any unusual items when booking.
Under normal conditions, the drive itself takes roughly two and a half hours along I-17 for the approximately 145-mile trip. Door-to-door time can be longer once you account for multiple pickups, a rest stop, or Sedona/Verde Valley stops along the route. In winter weather or heavy holiday traffic, expect delays and plan extra buffer time.
Pickup options generally include your hotel, home, or vacation rental in the Flagstaff area, Flagstaff Pulliam Airport (FLG), and the NAU area. When you book, confirm the exact pickup point and be ready a few minutes early — shared shuttles run on a schedule with other passengers aboard.
Many Flagstaff–Phoenix shuttle runs include Sedona pickups and drop-offs along Highway 179 and Highway 89A, since Sedona sits just off I-17 via the Exit 298 corridor. Stops in Camp Verde and other Verde Valley communities may also be available. Always confirm your specific stop and any route detour when making your reservation, since not every departure serves every point.
Costs vary by provider, vehicle type, season, and whether you choose a shared seat or a private vehicle, so we won't quote specific numbers here — any figure you see elsewhere may be outdated. As a general guide, shared seats are priced per person and private charters are priced by vehicle, with per-person costs dropping as your group size grows. Contact the shuttle company directly for a current, accurate quote for your date and party size.
Yes — airport transfers to Sky Harbor are the most popular use of this route. Shuttles drop passengers at the airline terminals. Provide your airline and flight number when booking so the driver can suggest the right terminal and the safest pickup time before your departure.
For most travelers, yes. The I-17 descent from the Mogollon Rim is challenging in snow and ice, with steep grades and occasional closures. Professional drivers make the trip daily, know where the trouble spots are, and monitor ADOT road conditions. If you're not comfortable driving mountain highways in a storm, a shuttle is the safer choice.
For standard travel, booking a few days ahead is usually enough. During peak demand — summer tourist season, university move-in and move-out, ski weekends, and the winter holidays — book as early as possible, ideally a week or more in advance. Early booking also gives the company time to accommodate special requests like extra luggage or a Sedona stop.
The Flagstaff-to-Phoenix shuttle exists for one reason: to make a 145-mile mountain-to-desert drive effortless. Whether you're chasing a flight at Sky Harbor, sending a student back to school, or finishing an Arizona adventure, a shuttle lets you skip the stress of I-17 entirely. Have your flight details, pickup address, and luggage count ready, request a quote, and lock in your seat — then sit back and enjoy the descent from the pines to the palms.
