Two roads lead to the South Rim
Worth knowing if you are comparing hotels: from Williams, all rim traffic follows AZ-64 south through Tusayan, the gateway town just outside the park entrance. From Flagstaff, drivers can instead run US-180 southwest and meet AZ-64 at Valle. Either way, the last stretch — Kaibab National Forest to the entrance station — is the same, which is why the Village hotels (El Tovar, The Grand Hotel, the Squire Inn) all land in that 4 to 4.5 hour window.
